San Diego Body Contouring Surgery
Body contouring surgery can address many different problems including unwanted fatty tissue, excess skin after significant weight loss, or stretch marks as a result of pregnancy. Dr. Marin can tailor your surgical plan to address each of your specific needs.
Liposuction
Liposuction is the second most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the United States with nearly 250,000 patients undergoing the surgery in 2009. This procedure is well suited to treat patients with excess, localized fatty tissue. This procedure is performed as outpatient surgery and can be performed on many different face and body locations:
- Abdomen, waist
- Love handles
- Back and bra-line
- Inner and outer thighs
- Hips
- Knees
- Calves and ankles
- Arms
- Neck and jowls
Tummy Tuck
Pregnancy and significant weight loss can result in the development of excess skin with or without stretch marks. This cannot be improved no matter how strenuous your diet and exercise routine. During pregnancy or weight gain, the abdominal muscles are stretched (to make room for the baby, or as a result of excess fatty tissue within the abdomen). This can result in an abdominal bulge. Patients who have experienced these changes are ideal candidates for an abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” surgery. There are a number of different options available depending upon how much weight is lost.
We frequently see patients who are interested in correcting all of the post-pregnancy changes at one time – a procedure known as a “mommy makeover.” During the “mommy makeover” both the breasts and tummy are corrected at the same time through a combination of liposuction, tummy tuck and cosmetic breast surgery. This technique can frequently help restore women to a “better than pre-pregnancy” appearance.
Arm Lift
Much like the rest of a woman’s body, upper arm skin will suffer the same end result with age or significant weight loss. Women who are self conscious about their arms often refrain from wearing short sleeves or tank tops to hide their upper arms. An arm lift procedure or brachioplasty surgically removes excess skin and fat from the upper arm helping to restore a more youthful contour. Often patients who never wore sleeveless shirts before, can feel secure enough to wear a tank-top with confidence.
Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is the overdevelopment of breast tissue in men. This has become one of the fastest growing areas of all cosmetic surgery over recent years. Many young men feel extremely self-conscious about this, and will never take their shirts off in public. I have encountered many patients who wear three to four shirts to help hide the excessive breast tissue. There are many reasons that this may develop, but the most frequent finding is that there is no specific cause. The treatment options range from liposuction to a complete breast reduction. Dr. Marin will help you determine which solution best fits your particular needs.
If you are interested in undergoing a body contouring procedure such as liposuction or tummy tuck, contact Dr. Vincent Marin. He can help you decide if a male breast reduction procedure is right for you, discuss cost and financing options, and answer questions related to the procedure itself or expected recovery.
