San Diego Radiesse

Radiesse is a soft tissue filler comprised of calcium-based microspheres called calcium-hydroxylapatite which are suspended in a watery gel. Radiesse is a dermal filler ideal for restoring volume to a face, sculpting cheek bones or helping to provide facial symmetry and balance. The volume provided by Radiesse can also give a “lift” to tissues that have descended with time. Contact our San Diego practice to schedule your Radiesse consultation with Dr. Marin.

How Does Radiesse Work?

Like all soft tissue dermal fillers, Radiesse is delivered to the tissues beneath the skin and the microspheres act to stimulate your body to create new collagen effectively re-filling the lost volume of the face. Radiesse, like Artefill and Sculptra, encourage your body to restore volume with its own natural tissues. Radiesse should last from nine to 18 months.

Who is a Good Radiesse Candidate?

Candidates for Radiesse are patients who have lost, or never had “high” cheek bones or those who have begun to notice that their face has begun to “hollow” with time. Radiesse also helps to correct facial asymmetries and restore facial balance by building more support on the weaker side.

Radiesse Procedure

Like all dermal fillers, Radiesse is injected into the soft tissues of the face after the application of topical anesthesia or with numbing of the areas to be injected. No massage or manipulation of the product is needed after the injection is complete. Our San Diego Radiesse patients will notice immediate results from the procedure.

Radiesse Recovery

Immediately after the injection of Radiesse, Dr. Marin may have you ice the treated areas and continue to do so over the course of the next 24 hours. This is primarily for your comfort. No massage or manipulation is needed.

Radiesse Side Effects

Radiesse side effects are rare and the product is very well tolerated. When side effects occur, they are commonly redness and tenderness at the injection site, limited bruising, lumps or firmness in or around the treatment area. Nearly all of these are self-limiting and will improve with time. With temporary fillers, there will be an expected progressive loss of the product over time if the results are not what you desire.
